We‘re a tech company that wants to help everyone make better tax decisions. In order to meet our ambition we want to build your trust when it comes to your personal data. This Privacy Policy will help you better understand how we collect, use and share your personal data when you use our Services.
1. DEFINITIONS
Undefined terms in this Privacy Policy have the same definition as in our Terms of Use (“Terms”).
2. PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT
2.1 We collect data about you when you use our Services. We try to limit the data we collect to only what we need such as registration, verification, account, contact, profile, device, transaction, usage, automated, log data, location, analytics, interaction, financial, bank and payment data. This allows us to provide you with all the services being requested. You are not required to provide data that we have requested. However, if you choose not to do so, in many cases we will not be able to provide you with our services or respond to requests you may have.
2.2 We also collect data from the data you choose to give us, third parties, partners, individuals, referrals, background information and other sources such as community forums.
3. HOW WE USE PERSONAL DATA
3.1 Taxabl uses personal data to power, provide and improve our Service. We also use personal data for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis and troubleshooting.
3.2 Process your transactions and payments. Taxabl uses personal data to provide and improve payment services.
3.3 Taxabl uses personal data to communicate with you about your Account, to market our services, to send important notices and provide other relevant information.
3.4 Taxabl uses personal data to protect individuals, employees and Taxabl from fraud, loss prevention, illegal content, exploitation and other security related issues for the benefit of all.
3.5 Taxabl uses personal data to comply with applicable law such as satisfying tax or reporting obligations and complying with lawful government requests.
4. REASONS WE SHARE PERSONAL DATA
4.1 We share personal data with your consent to complete any transaction or provide any service you have requested or authorized.
4.2 We share personal data with third parties such as providers who act on our behalf, partners and affiliates for the improvement and operation of our Services.
4.3 We share personal data when required by law or to respond to legal process, to protect our customers, to protect lives, to maintain the security of our services and to protect the rights and property of Taxabl and its users.
4.4 We share personal data if Taxabl undertakes or is involved in any merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or insolvency event. In this event, we will notify you before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
5.1 Retention. Taxabl retains personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. When assessing retentions periods and if retention is required, we work to retain your personal data for the shortest possible periods permissible under law.
5.3 Security. While no organization can guarantee perfect security, we are continuously implementing and updating administrative, technical and physical security measures to help protect against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alternation.
5.4 Children and Personal Data. We do not collect the personal data of children which we consider to be an individual under the age of 13 or equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction. If we learn that a child’s personal data was collected, it will be deleted as soon as possible.
5.5 Third-Party Partners & Integrations. Parts of Taxabl may link to third-party services, not owned or controlled by Taxabl, such as Google Maps/Earth. Use of these services is subject to the privacy policies of those providers. Taxabl does not own or control these third parties and when you interact with them you are providing your information to them.
5.5 Email & Messages. You may also control the receipt of certain types of communications from Taxabl in your email and device settings. Taxabl may send you messages about the Services or your activity. Some of these messages are required, service-related messages for members (such as transactional messages or legal notices). Other messages are not required, such as newsletters. You can control which optional messages you choose to receive by changing your user settings on your device.
6. COOKIES AND OTHER TECHNOLOGIES
6.1 Taxabl’s Services may use cookies and other technologies such as pixel tags and web beacons. These technologies help us to better understand user behavior, tell us which parts of our websites people have visited and facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and web searches. Some cookies are necessary to allow you to browse our website, use its features and access secure areas.
6.2 Most browsers automatically accept cookies. If you want to disable cookies you will need to disable them in the browser you are using. Certain features of the Services may not be available if all the cookies are disabled and currently does not respond to a “Do Not Track” signal in the HTTP header from your browser.
6.3 In addition to cookies, Taxabl uses other technologies that help us achieve similar objectives.
6.4 In some email messages Taxabl sends to you, we provide a “click-through URL” that links you to the Taxabl website. Emails we send you also have pixel tags that tell us whether mail has been opened. We may use this data to reduce or lower excess messages sent to you. If you prefer not to be tracked this way, you should not click graphic or text links in email messages.
7. YOUR RIGHTS
7.1 Certain privacy laws around the world, including the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), provide users with rights related to their personal data. Consistent with those laws, Taxabl gives you the choice of accessing, editing, or removing certain data, as well as choices about how we contact you. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply in limited cases. Personal and payment data are required to provide our services. Taxabl cannot offer or fulfill services without processing this data.
7.2 Access and Portability. You can access, manage and update certain personal data through your Account settings. In your Account settings you can request a copy of your personal data in an easily accessible format. You are responsible for keeping your personal data up to date.
7.3 Right to Restrict Processing. In certain cases where we process your data, you may also have the right to restrict or limit the ways in which we use your personal data.
7.4 Right to Deletion. In certain circumstances, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data, except data we are required to retain by law, regulation, or to protect the safety, security, and integrity of Taxabl.
7.5 Right to Object. If we process your data based on our legitimate interests as explained above, or in the public interest, you can object to this processing in certain circumstances. In such cases, we will cease processing your data unless we have compelling legitimate grounds to continue processing or where it is needed for legal reasons. Where we use your personal data for direct marketing purposes, you can object using the unsubscribe link in such communications or changing your account email settings.
7.6 Right to Withdraw Consent. Where we rely on consent, you can choose to withdraw your consent to our processing of your data using specific features provided to enable you to withdraw consent, like an email unsubscribe link or your account privacy preferences. If you have consented to share your precise device location details but would no longer like to continue sharing that data with us, you can revoke your consent to the sharing of that data through the settings on your mobile device. This is without prejudice to your right to generally permanently close your account and delete your personal data.
The CCPA provides California residents with the following additional rights:
7.7 Right to Automated decision making and profiling. You have the right to not be evaluated or have a decision based solely by automated means without any human involvement that could have legal or similar significant effects on you.
8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time in accordance with applicable law. If we do so, we will post the revised Privacy Policy and update the “Last Updated” date at the top.

To make sure your personal data is secure, we communicate our privacy and security guidelines to Taxabl employees and strictly enforce privacy safeguards within the company.
